MEET
STU GRAHAM

Stu is a former U.S. Air Force officer and seasoned business manager who is currently serving his third term on the Wasilla City Council. He is known as a common-sense conservative with a sharp pencil for reducing bloated budgets and for keeping government accountable to the people.
The ordinances he writes and passes reflect his understanding of the limited role of government, safety of the residents and businesses, and respect for the property and individual rights of citizens.

A consistent community volunteer, he currently serves and has served on non-profit boards of directors for over 20 years and is involved in our chambers of commerce, where he has served as President for three terms. He served as president of the Alaska Municipal League (AML) and currently serves on the executive board for AML.
The Time is Now for Stu Graham in the State House!
MISSIONS & VISIONS
Conservative Majority

Wasilla and Meadow Lakes need a representative respected by others in the House and who does not incite division within the conservative members of the house. Statewide, voters have put a majority of conservative members in the house, but extreme positions and failure to build coalitions by fighting at every opportunity has forced a liberal majority into power and common sense conservatives are unable to have their voices heard and their legislation moved forward. Stu has a history of working with and listening to others with differing opinions and finding common ground to move forward and benefit all.
Public Safety

For too long, cuts to the Alaska State Troopers have allowed crime to grow in our neighborhoods. Staffing levels recognizing the growth in our area are a priority. Laws allowing a slap on the wrist to offenders must be changed. Offenders must be punished, and prisons must be places to correct and rehabilitate – not places to coddle criminals and be schools to sharpen and refine criminal skills.
PFD

Your PFD has been shorted for several years and the time is now to stop feeding bloated government with your PFD dollars. Alaskans deserve their personal piece of this state’s oil resources and statutory 50/50 PFD formula must be followed!
Transportation

Tremendous growth in the number of homes and businesses along roads built to handle half the traffic we experience today makes it hard to efficiently get from our homes to businesses and commuter routes in our area. The State must move quicker to address our worn-out roads and roads not capable of handling the traffic we experience every day. We must get our fair share of transportation dollars and have a realistic plan to accommodate growth in our area.
School Bond Debt

The State is responsible for assuring all children have proper educational opportunities and providing learning facilities is a responsibility shared by the citizens and the government. Backing out of promises to share in the costs of building and maintaining our children’s schools is not acceptable! Reimbursement for school bond debt interest paid by local taxpayers and be a high priority in every yearly budget.
Regulatory Reign-in

Excessive and burdensome regulations slow our growth and our ability to put our resources to work for us! Before any one new regulation is put in place, at least two regulations should be repealed. Government must work with, and for, citizens and businesses to spur economic growth. The time is now to remove barriers to progress and the bloat in government that causes them!
Work collaboratively

To deliver results for our district, our representative must pledge to work collaboratively with all interested parties in Juneau and with local governments, community councils, groups, agencies, and individual citizens. Failure to work together hurts our district, our Borough, our communities, our businesses, and our families. The time is now for effective representation in Juneau!
Pro-life

The lives of unborn children must be protected.
Right-Sized Government
(at the right cost)

Our State government spends more dollars per capita than any other state in the union. Efficiencies can be found. Agencies and legislators must be held responsible for delivering the services citizens need at a price we can afford. There’s room in our budget for essential and effective services as well as forward-looking projects and saving for our children’s future.
Maintain Open Communications

Stu Graham has long been known as a city council member who answers the phone and works with citizens to resolve social, budgetary, and road and neighborhood issues. Whether he’s in Juneau or at home in the district, you can bet he’ll be listening to your concerns and working to improve our district.
